LIVING AFLOAT

For many may seem a little strange to imagine what life may be like on the water. However, in our experience most marina's have a thriving live aboard community and it is a very enviable way of life.

One of the most desirable features of living on a boat is the peace and quiet.  No outside noise guarantees perfect sleep and the gentle rocking motion instantly relaxes.

If you are wondering about the practical side of life, look no further, we have covered the basics here.

ELECTRIC:
Each boat in any given marina has its own electricity supply.  The service is metered and readings are taken monthly.

Lizzy boasts a 'household' electrical circuit, fuse board and integration.

WATER:
In each marina, every vessel has its own hosepipe in a convenient spot for filling up the onboard water tank.

Lizzy has a 1000l water storage tank and so only needs topping up every couple of days, depending on your consumption.

TV:
Lizzy has her own satellite dish that brings Freesat on board.  Connected to the WiFi full recording is also available.  (Not that you will want to watch TV in such beautiful surroundings!)

GALLEY

They say that the kitchen is the heart of the home, and this is certainly the case onboard Lizzy.

An amazing entertaining space, the large kitchen table has been the place where many special occasions have been celebrated, long into the early hours.

The big windows allow a mass of natural light, with hand made shutters for privacy and warmth.

WHEELHOUSE:

The impressive original steering wheel and controls for the vessel are situated in this space, ensuring that you always know you are onboard.  The hand built units and solid oak work surfaces are sympathetic to her age and majestic beauty.

APPLIANCES:

Lizzy boasts an impressive range cooker made by La Canche, with two ovens, one operated by gas and the other electric, and a 5 burner gas hob.

There is an under counter fridge, freezer and dishwasher installed.

STORAGE:

There is extensive storage underfloor, which is clean, dry and easily accessed through a hatch in the floor.  Fully carpeted, it makes great use of the available space.

BATHROOM

As you make your way down the  bright wide corridor to the rest of the living space onboard, the first room you will come across is the heads.

Usually referred to as the smallest room, in this case you will be pleasantly surprised.

A full suite, including a full size bath and shower, it is tastefully decorated and oozes calm and relaxation.

You will also find the boiler that fires the central heating, washing machine/tumble combi and airing cupboard housed in this space.

EXTERIOR

During the  Summer of 2018 Lizzy spent 10 weeks out of the water receiving a HUGE amount of TLC.

She is constructed from steel, comprising shell plating riveted to a rib structure. The underside of the vessel has welded double plating.

She was sanded down to her bare steel, repainted, anti fouled, and was fitted with a full set of new anodes.
