Little Gem is one of approximately 5,000 similar craft built by Shetland Cruisers/Shetland Boats in Norfolk between 1974 and 1992.  Vessel was involved in an incident in May 2007 in which she flooded on her mooring and consequently was declared a total loss by her insurers.  The present owner bought the boat and engaged marine professionals who carried out hull repairs, replacement windows, new electrics and navigations aids.  A new engine was fitted in 2009.
